9/25 Angels Rankings – Pitchers

Home / Angels / 9/25 Angels Rankings – Pitchers

My rankings include the entire 40 man roster – not just the active 25 man.

These rankings were compiled with the help of MLB stats, FanGraphs, misc. data, personal opinion, and some fairy dust I found hidden in Shoemaker’s beard.

An asterisk* means the player was not on the active roster at the time of this posting.

Rank Player Last Week Change High Low Comments
1 weaverJered Weaver 1 1 5 Weaver was an ace again last week only walking 1 and notching another win with 7 innings pitched.
2 smithJoe Smith 2 2 4 This guy rocks.
3 shoemakerMatt Shoemaker 4 uparrow+1 1 13 Amazing sauce.  Fear the bear and all that jazz.  Let’s hope he’s healthy again soon!
4 ph_434718Huston Street 3 downarrow+1  1 4 Rough week with a homerun Sunday that lost the game.  Otherwise he’s just busy being Street.
5 rasmusCory Rasmus 8 uparrow+3 8 11 Can we just make him an official starter for 2015?  This guy has been amazing when he starts.  Two starts last week.  ZERO earned runs, only 1 walk and 3 hits.

7 wilsonCJ Wilson 12 uparrow+5 7 16 CJ showed up for sure last week.  7Ks over 7 innings with a .57 WHIP and .045 BAA.  We need this version in the playoffs.
8 jepsenKevin Jepsen 6 downarrow-2 4 8 Meh.  One bad an one good outing.  Drop one place.
9 grilliJason Grilli 7 downarrow-2 4 9 Hasn’t been spectacular lately and threw batting practice his last outing (.600 BAA in one inning)
10 morinMike Morin 9 downarrow-1  9 10 Meh.  At least he has a pink backpack to get noticed.
11  ph_545064Jairo Diaz 11  – 11  11 Aren’t you a little short for a pitcher?  This guy is a powerhouse.  Didn’t do much last week but I’m still impressed he isn’t sucking yet and started the season in A ball.
12 salasFernando Salas 10 downarrow-2 6 14 With a 23.14 ERA last week it’s like he doesn’t want to be on the post season roster.
13  leblancWade LeBlanc 16 uparrow+3 12 16 Pitched well again!  May yet find his way onto the post season roster.  A solid 5.1 inning start with a .56WHIP.
14 vinnieVinnie Pestano 14 13 14  Did okay.  Yay Vinnie.
15 rucinskiDrew Rucinski  – Pitched a pretty decent 4 innings in a miserable game on Friday.  Struck out 5 and gave up 2 runs.
16 bedrosianCam Bedrosian 15 downarrow-1 11 19 Meh
17 santiagoHector Santiago 13 downarrow-4 5 13 Free falling.. Ouch.  Just ouch.  He’s back to his old antics two weeks in a row now.  With a .700 BAA, opposing teams are begging for him to start against them.  He only made it 1 inning in his start last week because he was just that horrible.
18 herreraYoslan Herrera 20 uparrow+2  19 20 Did okay
19 rothMichael Roth 18 downarrow-1 13 18  Not so good
20 thatcherJoe Thatcher 19 downarrow-1 17 19  Told you I wasn’t excited about him coming back.  .600 BAA and 13.5 ERA
