Week 3 Power Ranking – Position Players

Home / Angels / Week 3 Power Ranking – Position Players

The ranking come a bit slow this week since Angels Stadium decided to give me food poisoning on Monday and I spent the past weekend at a tournament in Phoenix.  Still, here they are!  The Angels offense has still been weak but we’ll see some changes in that for next week’s ratings after last night’s game.

My rankings include the entire 40 man roster.

These rankings were compiled with the help of MLB stats, FanGraphs, misc. data, personal opinion, and some fairy dust I found hidden in Shoemaker’s beard.

*** Salt Lake Bees Roster
** Arkansas Travelers Roster

Rank Player Last Week Change High Low Comments
1 troutMike Trout  1 1 1 “Slowed” down to a .385 OBP last week with 2 home runs and a double.  Must be rough for that to be a slower week.
2 giovotellaJohnny Giavotella 8 uparrow+6 2 9 Johnny G has been amazing and almost make you forget about Howie Kendrick.  He had a .368 avg last week with 2 doubles.
3 calhounKole Calhoun 6 uparrow+3 3 12 Finally starting to get hot!  Calhoun had an amazing .462 OBP last week.  We need this in our leadoff hitter!
4 pujolsAlbert Pujols 4 downarrow-2 2 4 Pujols continues to struggle a bit.  He hit .190 last week but drew some walks for a .320 OBP and also hit a home run.
5 aybarErick Aybar 3 downarrow-2 3 8 Picking up the pace ever so slightly, as is most of the Angels offense.  .240 OBP last week and measly .174 avg.
6 freeseDavid Freese 4 downarrow-2 4 6 7 K’s last week so he’s still doing that.  Also hit a homer – yay!
7 cowgillCollin Cowgill 7 5 7 Cowgill instead of Joyce.  Please??  Cowgill had a key HR last week as well as two more doubles.  He doesn’t run into people, hits better an strikes out less that Joyce.
