Week 5 Angels Power Rankings – pitchers

Home / Angels / Week 5 Angels Power Rankings – pitchers

My rankings include the entire 40 man roster, not just the active 25.

These rankings were compiled with the help of MLB stats, FanGraphs, misc. data, personal opinion, and some fairy dust I found hidden in Shoemaker’s beard.

*** Salt Lake Bees Roster
** Arkansas Travelers Roster

Changes:

Cam Bedrosian sent down to the minors

Rank Player Last Week Change High Low Comments
1 ph_434718Huston Street 1 1 10 Almost blew a save last week but it was probably not mostly his fault since he went in fairly cold.  Thanks to Trout’s game saving catch, Street was 2 for 2 in saves last week.
2 richardsGarrett Richards 2 2 8 Solid Richards in our outing last week, giving up only 1 run.
3 wilsonCJ Wilson 8 uparrow+5 3 12 Apparently Wilson has taken over Weaver as the staff ace?  Pretty stellar numbers last week with a .71 WHIP, .167BAA and 1.29ERA.
4 josealverazJose Alvarez 4 4 8 2 perfect innings pitched.  Boring in a good way!
5 tropeanoNick Tropeano*** 3 downarrow-2 3 11 After his great big league start, he gave up 8 hits and 2 walks over 5.1 innings for Salt Lake.
6 ramosCesar Ramos 7 uparrow+1 5 7 No earned runs last week but a 1.50 WHIP
7 smithJoe Smith 6 downarrow-1 3 13 The good news is that Smith had two great outings last week.  The bad news is he also had two not so great ones.  In the later, he gave up a combined 5 hits and 2 walks.
8 morinMike Morin 10 uparrow+2  3 10 .125BAA and .43WHIP.  Did make one mistake that resulted in a home run.
9 shoemakerMatt Shoemaker 12 uparrow+3 7 12 Pretty decent but did have a .274 BAA against which is not so great.
10 santiagoHector Santiago 5 downarrow-5 2 14 Bad Santiago was back last week in a big way.  .391 BAA against – seriously?
11 vinnieVinnie Pestano 9 downarrow-2 4 11 Two rough weeks in a row.  Let’s hope it’s not a trend.
12 weaverJered Weaver 11 downarrow-1 1 14 Weaver is struggling.  That’s no secret.  He gave up total of 19 hits+walks over 12 innings.
13 bedrosianCam Bedrosian*** 13 13 17 Pitched well back on the farm.
14 aheaneyAndrew Heaney*** 14 10 16 That Hendrick trade is sure not paying off so far.  Heaney was mediocre last week at best.
15 rucinskiDrew Rucinski*** 15 2 15 Two bad week in a row for him as well.  Perhaps his confidence was shot after his first big league start was a shellacking.
16 salasFernando Salas 18 uparrow+2 15 18 Improving.  A little.
17 rasmusCory Rasmus, DL 16 downarrow-1 12 17 Currently on the DL.
