Last night in Houston, Scioscia decided to have pitching tryouts. I don’t think the game started that way, after all, Wilson had been pitching a bit better lately, giving up 7 earned runs in his previous 4 starts. Houston had other plans last night, and so did Wilson’s command of the zone. Wilson only made it 3.1 innings and the bullpen dip happened early.
With the Angels down early and not hitting (Top of the lineup went 1 for 16 last night), Scioscia decide to throw in a string of pretty crappy pitchers. In order:
- Yoslan Herrera – Pitched .2 innings. Almost ruined the inning but managed to only give up 1 hit. He had zero strikeouts. His WHIP with the Angels is STILL 2.04. Ouch.
- Cam Bedrosian – This guy just can’t pitch in the big leagues can he? .2 innings last night with 2 hits, 1 walk, and 2 runs. His WHIP sits at 2.03. Also ouch.
- Vinnie Pestano – 1.1 innings last night. He struck out 3 and only gave up 1 hit. He was so-so before he joined the Angels but in two Angels appearances he has 6 Ks over 2.2 innings with 1 hit and 1 walk. Showing potential early – well done.
- Matt Wade LeBlanc – Joey from friends should still stick to acting and that is saying something. In 1.1 innings he did manage 2 Ks, also 2 hits and run.
- Mike Morin – The only regular guy that came in last night. He closed out this mess of a game with 1K, 1 walk and 1 hit over .2 innings.
Beckham was the offensive hero last night, nabbing 3 of the Angels measly 6 hits.
